My Genealogy Books Are Now Audiobooks. Yes, Really.

I have to be honest with you: I never imagined I’d be writing a post like this one. When I started Genealogy Bargains years ago, my goal was simple. I wanted to help everyday genealogists find great tools and resources without breaking the bank. Since then, I’ve written more than 50 books and cheat sheets on genealogy topics, and now something pretty exciting has happened. Several of those titles are available as audiobooks on Amazon and Audible.

I’ll give you a moment to let that sink in.

For those of you who spend time driving, walking the dog, doing yard work, or folding laundry, you already know the magic of audiobooks. You can squeeze learning into pockets of time that used to feel unproductive. Now you can do that with genealogy content that’s actually relevant to your research. That means while you’re stuck in traffic, you could be soaking up strategies for using AI to find your ancestors in historical records.

AI and Genealogy Research: A Natural Fit for Audiobook Learning

If you’ve been curious about artificial intelligence and how it fits into family history research, I’ve got you covered in more ways than one. Best AI Prompts for Genealogy Research (2026 Edition) is a great starting point if you want practical, ready-to-use prompts that actually get results from tools like ChatGPT. No tech background required.

I also went deep on two specific record types that genealogists rely on heavily. Researching Court Records Using AI Power Prompts and Strategies will change how you look at those dusty county courthouse files, and Reconstructing Family Narratives Using Land and Property Records with AI walks you through how to turn complex deed records into a story your whole family can appreciate.

Historic Newspapers Meet Artificial Intelligence

For anyone who loves historic newspapers, you’re going to want Using AI to Extract Newspaper Information for Genealogical Research in your listening queue. Historic newspapers are one of my absolute favorite sources for genealogy research. They’re full of birth notices, obituaries, legal notices, and community news that can fill in gaps that vital records never will. Pairing that content with AI strategies is a genuine game-changer for family historians at every experience level.

Beyond AI: Audiobooks for Every Stage of Your Genealogy Journey

Not every title is about AI, and that’s by design. Some of these audiobooks reflect other parts of my genealogy life that I care deeply about.

The Genealogy Do-Over Workbook (2026) is a favorite among readers who want to restart their research the right way, building on solid documentation habits instead of years of uncited family lore. And if you’ve ever thought about sharing your passion for genealogy by speaking at conferences, libraries, or virtual events, Speaking Your Roots: How to Build a Professional Genealogy Speaking Career (Onsite, Online, and On-Demand) is the book that maps out that entire journey for you.

A More Personal Title Worth Your Time

I also have to mention one audiobook that’s a little different from the rest. Have You Ever Seen a Hearse Pulling a Moving Trailer? is the book where I get personal. It’s about life, family, and the moments that shape us. If you’ve ever wondered what drives a person to spend decades chasing ancestors, this one gives you a window into that world. It’s worth your time, especially if you’re the kind of genealogist who cares about the stories behind the names and dates.

Not on Audible Yet? Here’s How to Get Started

If you’re not already an Audible member, this is a great time to take the leap. Audible membership gives you access to an enormous library of audiobooks, and new members can take advantage of a free trial to get started. Once you’re in, you’ll receive credits each month that you can apply toward any title in the Audible catalog, including my genealogy audiobooks. It’s one of the best values out there for lifelong learners, and genealogists are absolutely in that category. If you’ve been on the fence about joining, consider this your nudge.

Ready to Add These Genealogy Audiobooks to Your Library?

Whether you’re just getting started with AI tools or you’re a seasoned researcher looking to sharpen a specific skill, there’s something in this collection for you.

And while you’re there, browse my other genealogy books too. There are more than 50 to choose from, covering everything from DNA research to military records to social media strategies for genealogists.

Your ancestors have been waiting a long time to be found. Let their stories keep you company on your next commute.

Author’s Note: I want to be transparent that this content – My Genealogy Books Are Now Audiobooks. Yes, Really. – was created in part with the help of an artificial intelligence (AI) language model – Claude Sonnet 5.6. The AI assisted in generating an early draft of the content, but every paragraph was subsequently reviewed, edited, and refined by me. The final content is the result of extensive human curation and creativity. I am proud to present this work and assure readers that while AI was a tool in the process, the story, style, and substance have been carefully shaped by the author.
