What kind of sale will Ancestry have for Memorial Day? Here’s what we know …

Here in the United States, Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. Traditionally called “Decoration Day” and observed on May 30th, many Americans associate the Memorial Day weekend with the start of the summer season.
But genealogists and family historians know that Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to pay tribute to those ancestors and family members who served in the armed forces and more specifically, those who died while serving. Ancestry.com Memorial Day Sales and Offers: What to Expect
We don’t have complete news to give you quite yet, but based on what Ancestry has offered in the past for Memorial Day sales, here’s what I predict:
- There probably won’t be an offer on AncestryDNA. The last sale was around Mother’s Day and it is likely there will be a Father’s Day sale starting AFTER the Ancestry Memorial Day Sale.
- In some years Ancestry has offered FREE ACCESS to military records but only through it’s Fold3 site. Again, there’s no guarantee that any free access to records will be offered.
- There’s a strong probability of a big membership sale meaning regular memberships, not gift memberships. There was a gift membership sale for Mother’s Day this year and I expect the same for Father’s Day. However, there hasn’t been a regular membership sale since St. Patrick’s Day, so I can almost guarantee a sale.
