Discover Your Irish Roots at MyHeritage: What You’ll Find

Since last year’s St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve expanded our Irish record collections by 21 million records, making MyHeritage an even more valuable resource for those tracing Irish roots. Among these are newly added Irish civil birth, marriage, and death records, some of the most essential resources for Irish family history research.

Millions of people around the world—especially in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the UK—have Irish roots. The Irish diaspora has spread far and wide, and your ancestors’ journey may have started on the Emerald Isle.

Among the 35 million records now available for free, some of the most valuable collections include:

  • Ireland Births, 1864-1958 – A register of of civil birth records from all 32 counties of Ireland between the years 1864 and 1921, continuing for the Republic of Ireland until 1958.
  • Ireland Marriages, 1845-1958 – A register of civil marriage records from all 32 counties of Ireland between the years 1845 and 1921, continuing for the Republic of Ireland until 1958, with a number of entries from Irish citizens who married overseas.
  • Ireland Deaths, 1864-1958 – A register of civil death records from all 32 counties of Ireland between the years 1864 and 1921, continuing for the Republic of Ireland until 1958.
  • 1901 Ireland Census – A snapshot of life at the turn of the century, offering valuable details on household members, occupations, and living conditions. This is one of the earliest complete Irish censuses still in existence.
  • 1911 Ireland Census – A detailed look at Irish society a decade later, perfect for tracking changes over time.

Whether you’re a seasoned genealogist or just starting your Irish family history journey, these records can help uncover stories of resilience, migration, and community.
