Should I Cancel Ancestry.com to Take Advantage of a 50% Off Sale?

Posted by

ALWAYS Cancel Ancestry.com so your membership doesn’t auto-renew at a higher price!

Don't let Ancestry auto-renew at FULL PRICE! Here's our secret to ALWAYS getting the best deal on Ancestry!

So, I just made my semi-annual purchase of Ancestry’s ALL ACCESS membership for just $129 USD instead of the regular $259 USD price. AND I just CANCELLED my newly-purchased membership so it won’t be able to AUTO RENEW six-months from now! (NOTE: SCROLL DOWN to get this weekend’s  4th of July with up to 50% off Ancestry 6-month Memberships or CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW!)

Save 50%* on Ancestry Memberships during 4th of July Flash Sale! You MUST take advantage of this rare sale - valid through Wednesday, July 5th!

“WAIT! Thomas, won’t that just waste money? Do you still have full access to Ancestry or did you just throw it away before cancelling?” NO. The fact is, you can cancel your Ancestry membership at ANY TIME but you will still have FULL ACCESS to your membership until the renewal date!

Also, if there is an Ancestry.com sale going on but you still have an active membership, it might be advantageous to CANCEL your current membership and then purchase a new membership at the sale price. This all depends on how much time you have until your current membership expires.

Ancestry: VIDEO How to Cancel your Ancestry membership

Did you know that most memberships at Ancestry auto-renew? If you don’t mark your calendar and CANCEL before your membership renews, you will likely renew at the FULL RATE!

Here’s how to CANCEL your current membership now to prevent auto-renew and STILL KEEP ALL THE MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS until the expiration date.

Ancestry: Here’s How to Cancel Your Ancestry Membership

Follow these steps to cancel your current Ancestry membership. There are several “hoops to jump through” but in about seven steps you’ll have a cancellation confirmation on screen that you can print and you’ll also receive a confirmation via e-mail.

  • Step 1: Log in at Ancestry, click the dropdown menu next to your name in the upper right, select Account Settings.

Special Situations with Ancestry Memberships

Not everyone’s situation is the same as mine when it comes to Ancestry memberships.  I had cancelled my previous membership in early March thanks to a reminder on my calendar. Many followers have emailed me for help with the situations below. My best advice: CALL ANCESTRY at 1 (800) 615-6560 if you have any questions or need assistance. I’m more invested in YOU saving money than earning the affiliate commission from Ancestry.

  • Gift Memberships: Gift memberships – even if you gave it to yourself – DO NOT RENEW and therefore cannot be cancelled. Call Ancestry and remember if you have more than three months remaining on your gift membership, the current offer may not be the best way to go.
  • Ancestry Cancellation Offer: On Step 5 above, you will be given several offers to stay with Ancestry instead of cancelling. If you DOWNGRADE to a lower plan, you’ll receive a refund. Again, CALL ANCESTRY with any questions.
